Free wordpress.com or blogger, what is best for newbies?

Are you all set to create your new blog this week? Good news!
Choose your topic of interest and start writing today. I always advise you to write about the topic you like. It's really important to write about what you like. It helps to create a long lasting blog.

Here at the UTechs blog, I talked about
and
of course, both are blogging platforms.
Most of the newbies get confused in what platform should they choose to experience blogging. In this post, I will honestly review both free wordpress.com and blogger.com, then choice is completely yours.

Free Wordpress.com

As you have heard the name before, wordpress.com is the number 1 platform for making a blog. The best thing is that everything is at your fingertips. You just go there and explore the things easily. No blogger can deny the best support and experience of wordpress.com. Wordpress empowers 31% of all websites. It's also a fact that sites which are built with Wordpress get more social shares and SEO exposure.
I personally feel that apart from a sub-domain.wordpress.com, you almost get a perfect web presence.
I am currently running a blog with wordpress.com and getting fine results.
Now, there are some down sides of free wordpress.com too. Let’s take a look on them.
You will stay on the sub-domain unless you upgreat your plan or move to self-hosted Wordpress.
Free wordpress.com is very limited in the sense of plugins and widgets. You need to upgreat to the payed plans in order to enjoy the seamless experience of wordpress plugins and widgets. Once you upgreat your site, you will enter the world of very useful and wonderful wordpress plugins and widgets.
On free wordpress.com, you can never hide an attribution widget. It will always show “Powered by wordpress.com” in the end. This gives an unprofessional look to your blog.
Another factor is very important. That is the monetizing factor. On free wordpress.com, you can not apply ads; it’s the infringement of wordpress laws and they may ban you and your website for doing this. You can add affiliate links if you are writing a post related to it. It is a difficult task to monetize a free wordpress.com blog. But if you are familiar with Affiliate marketing, then free wordpress.com is the best platform for you.

Blogger

Blogger is a great platform to start your blogging career. It has a lot of free designed templates and widgets to offer. You can use them and learn blogging very fast.
Blogger provides you to add a domain for free. You just need to pay for the domain you register. It also gives you an opportunity to earn from your blog. You can apply for Google Adsense, the number one ads providing network in the industry. Remember, a custom domain is important to apply for google adsense. Google does not allow subdomains on adsense anymore.
Additionally, you can also use other ad networks, affiliate links and other methods to monetize your blog.
Sounds great, right? There are some down sides too.
Having a professional web presence is not a piece of cake for blogger users, even though you have a registered domain. You must have some know-how of HTML coding. You need to be technically sound to build a fine web presence on blogger.
On blogger, it’s hard to hide some widgets, add contact form and do many other things. But just little knowledge of HTML and some smart work in your field can make you a champion. And you can do extra ordinary work to build a professional web presence.

Conclusion

Blogger and free wordpress.com, both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Wordpress has the advanced features to enhance your experience but increasing your knowledge about HTML coding can make you a Blogger master too. Now it’s up to you what platform you choose and how it works for you.
Would love to know your experiences in the comments below.
